About Me
My name is Sarah Brenden I am a recent graduate of the University of Washington in International Studies and Law, Societies, and Justice (LSJ). In January I will be moving to Guatemala City in order to work in the International Justice Mission office that focuses on ending child sex slavery in the country which is a rampant problem in the country. With high levels of instability and little risk of legal punishment for violent offenders children are at high risk of being targeted by gangs. This make bolstering the justice system within the country crucial for protecting children and preventing human trafficking within the country.
I
will be working with the Justice System Transformation team in the office which
works to create a safer environment for women and children who have been
victims of sexual assault or of sex slavery and to create more accountability
for the perpetrators. This work is done through partnering with local
governmental leaders, prosecutors, and judges to implement stronger laws
protecting victims and to enable court officials to prosecute perpetrators.
To be able to be a part of this good work I am in need of support both financially and through prayer! This
money will go towards my living and travel expenses that will enable me to
assist the field office in finding ways to better protect women and children
through transforming the justice system. Any donations are greatly appreciated
and are crucial in allowing me to be a part of this vital work.
